How To Prep The Skin For Your Wedding Day

person Posted By: Luana Basso

Preparing your skin for your wedding day is crucial to achieve a radiant and flawless look.

We chatted with Nicola Liberos, NMC Registered Nurse and Aesthetician at Omniya Clinic about prepping your skin for the big day.

Here are some proven facts and tips to help you prep your skin for your wedding day:

1. Start early: Don't wait until the last minute to start prepping your skin. Start at least 6 months before the wedding day by following a consistent skincare routine. Dr. Liberos stated that "skin concerns should be addressed 6-12 months before the wedding, depending on the severity of your skin concerns. This will determine what strength products should be used".

2. Hydrate: Drinking plenty of water is essential for healthy skin. It helps to flush out toxins and keeps your skin hydrated and plump. Dr. Liberos also commented: "Four to three months before the wedding, you should be prepared to cut back on treatments and skin care and switch to lighter, gentler skincare and facials".

3. Exfoliate: Regular exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, resulting in smoother and brighter skin. Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week.

According to Dr. Liberos "Three weeks before your wedding, you should stop all skin care treatments and use only low-intensity AHAs and BHAs in your skincare routine to gently exfoliate the skin and maintain skin hydration. Avoid using pore-clogging makeup and skincare".

4. Moisturise: Moisturising is key to keeping your skin hydrated and preventing dryness and flakiness. Choose a moisturiser that suits your skin type and use it twice a day.

Our best seller, the Supreme Hyaluronic Acid Anti-oxidising DUO Moisturiser, is an Age Nutri-Revive moisturiser formulated with our signature Hyaluronic Acid aimed at restoring your skin's natural glow day and night.

"Stop using AHAs and BHAs the day before and on the day of your wedding, and only use moisturising skin care products containing hyaluronic acid to improve skin hydration and for better application of your wedding makeup."

5. Protect your skin: Protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays by using sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Apply it at least 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours.

6. Get enough sleep: Getting enough sleep is crucial for healthy skin. Lack of sleep can cause dark circles, puffiness, and dull skin. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

7. Eat a healthy diet: Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean protein can help to nourish your skin from the inside out.

By following these proven tips, you can prep your skin for your wedding day and achieve a radiant and flawless look. Remember to start early and be consistent with your skincare routine for the best results.
