How to retexture your Skin for Summer

person Posted By: Alison Stubbs

Many people talk about uneven skin as issues with pigmentation such as dark circles or age spots. However there is also another way in which your skin can appear uneven, this is through its texture. It’s natural for different parts of your skin to have different textures, for example, the skin on your palms is very different from the skin around your eyes. This is because of the fact that they serve different needs.

What causes uneven skin?
Many people talk about uneven skin as issues with pigmentation such as dark circles or age spots. However there is also another way in which your skin can appear uneven, this is through its texture. It’s natural for different parts of your skin to have different textures, for example, the skin on your palms is very different from the skin around your eyes. This is because of the fact that they serve different needs.

"Uneven skin texture is commonly a result of excess dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin," explains cosmetic dermatologist Paul Jarrod Frank, MD. "This can make areas of the skin feel rough or bumpy to the touch and can also give the skin a dull appearance."

How do I change the texture of my skin?
Sun Cream
The biggest of these is the use of SPF containing products. Protecting your skin against the sun is always incredibly important when it comes to avoiding signs of ageing. "Chronic sun exposure can also play a big role in uneven skin texture and pore-size irregularity," says Paul Jarrod Frank, MD. "Natural aging of the skin will also make the skin look duller. Factors such as smoking may also contribute, and other skin conditions such as eczema and dry skin can severely affect skin tone and texture."

Exfoliate
Exfoliation, in general, is incredibly important in your skincare routine as it helps to rejuvenate your skin by removing loose or dead skin cells. There are many different ways in which you can exfoliate your skin, for example, delicate scrubs or chemical exfoliants. Both of these work well to help promote collagen production and also helping to even out your skin tone.

You can over-exfoliate your skin, it’s more likely to occur with people who have oily skin as the oils within your skin might make you feel as if it’s more necessary. However, over-exfoliating your skin can lead to your skin overproducing oils and causing micro-tears in your skin. The best way to avoid this is to only exfoliate your skin wither once or twice in a week.

Facial Oil
This might sound a little unorthodox as people don’t generally associate oils with anything beneficial for your skin. However, they are great helping to regulate the sebum production in your skin and keep it balanced. As well as keeping your skin particularly soft. Due to these amazing benefits, facial oils are particularly helpful when you have parts of your skin that are particularly rough, for example potentially around the nose.

Our Advanced Bio Restorative Superfood Facial Oil is a natural and yet powerful facial oil that would be great for helping to retexture your skin.
