Our Peony & Caviar Serum
What are Facial Serums and How do they work?
Serums are a mostly water based (some can be oil based) serum crammed with active ingredients. They can contain up to 70% active ingredients, compared to 5 and 10% that are normally found in cleansers and moisturisers. Serums are designed to have smaller molecules than moisturisers and cleansers so that the active ingredients can be absorbed into your skin, helping to encourage moisture or the benefits of the active ingredients. In our case, Sublime Peony and White Caviar Pearls Illuminating Serum works to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and aims to brighten your skin.
Dr Adam Geyer says, “As people have become savvier about their skincare routines, layering had become increasingly prevalent. By using a serum, people are able to intensify the strength of their regimen or round out the ingredients they are applying to their skin to provide a more comprehensive approach to anti-ageing and hydrating. Serums are usually formulated with a higher concentration of active ingredients so that a few drops are sufficient to cover the entire face. The texture is usually lighter than a moisturiser, which allows for it to be used as a stand-alone product for someone with oiler skin, or used under a moisturiser for someone with normal to dry skin.”
When to use a Facial Serum?
To get the most out of your serum it’s recommended that you use it after you’ve cleansed your skin both in the morning and evening.
A little goes a long way when it comes to Serums and so you don’t need very much, probably about a pea sized amount. Make movements from the inside of your face to the outside with your fingertips, pressing slightly to release the active ingredients. Include your neck into this treatment to get the best results. With an open hand, carry out continuous strokes and pinch along the face’s contour to stimulate circulation.
We recommend for the best results, use a serum during periods when the skin appears more tired or during season changes!
