M Is For Mica

Mica is a silicate mineral. It is the term for 34 layers of flaky crystal minerals containing silicate.

It is ground down to form a fine, sparkling powder, which is evident in the glistening flashes of light that we see in rocks such as granite and slate, as well as the various ranges of colours that the mineral can be found in, from silver and white, to pink and purple tones, making it even more beautiful!

The word “mica” is thought to have derived from the Latin word, “micare”, which roughly translated, means “to glitter”.
